With so many magazines about Beanie Babies out there, it can be hard to tell them all apart. Beanie Mania calls itself the "ultimate beanie source" and is part of a larger multi-media company revolving around those cuddly stuffed animals.
Publishers Rebecca Phillips and Rebecca Estenssoro got started in the Beanie Baby business when their children began collecting them. They first put their Beanie passion to work with their best-selling reference book Beanie Mania: A Comprehensive Collector's Guide. Since then, "Becky and Becky," as they call themselves, have expanded their line of products to include Beanie Mania II: The Complete Collector's Guide, The Beanie Mania Guidebook: Your Guide to Collecting Beanie Babies, The Beanie Baby Bulletin Newsletter and a Beanie Mania website. Now the two Beckys, who call themselves "the undisputed world-renowned authorities on all things Beanie," have launched Beanie Mania magazine where readers can find "the absolute latest Beanie action."
Like other collector magazines, Beanie Mania touts its price guide as tops. Beanie Mania also prides itself on its coverage of the counterfeit Beanie Baby market. "Our goal is to help educate all beanie collectors and dealers, so we can all work together to rid the market of these fakes," explain the editors. Beanie Mania also features departments like "What's Hot," "Beanie Mania Kids" ("Written by kids for kids with games, puzzles, interviews and more"), and "International Beanie News." The magazine's premiere issue spotlighted a rare interview with Beanie Baby creator Ty Warner, as well as "How Beanie Mania was Created: The Becky and Becky Story." Besides an easy-to-read price guide sorted by tag type, a list of Beanie Baby web sites and "the most authoritative" Beanie Baby listing, Beanie Mania also provides a list of Beanie Baby characters' birthdays.
"If it is hot, it will be covered in this magazine," the editors guarantee. And anything dealing with Beanie Babies is hot these days. No wonder Beanie Baby magazines like Beanie Mania are hitting the market at a feverish pace!
