House of Roses
For better or for worse we choose our notable launches, and I fear this magazine falls under "for worse." In its second reincarnation in less than two years, House of Roses returns as a mens magazine attempting to imitate Maxim: take the naked women from Penthouse, cover them up just enough so the magazine isnt considered pornography, and market it as a new idea. House of Roses, along with one of our other notable launches Smooth, is trying much to hard to be the black mans Maxim and unfortunately is failing miserably. The concept of a mens magazine reaching its audience from a racial standpoint has merit, but that idea has already been done.
