Rather, Life & Style Weekly is an incoming bogey on the radar screen of celebrity and entertainment magazines. If you think about it, America and weeklies is sort of an oxymoron. Once in a blue moon, a new weekly is launched. We are a country, as the European would say, of "glossies" - monthlies and quarterlies and the like. It not only takes guts to launch a weekly in this country, but also money - and a lot of money. Very few publishers have ventured into the weekly cycle, including the leading weekly publisher in the United States: Time, Inc. So when a German publisher comes and decides to challenge the common wisdom and publishes not one, but two new weeklies in less than two years, one has to stop and count the "copies". Like In Touch Weekly, Life & Style Weekly is setting a new benchmark for publishers of weeklies, and it's setting new standards in this competitive field.
