Yes, No and a Maybe

If you really want to give your subscribers a different cover than that of the newsstand copies, here are some quick examples that I feel you can use as a guide of what to do and what not to do.

Midwest Living

This issue's split cover uses the same colors and the same picture, but different cover lines. I say yes.

Harper's Bazaar

Both covers use the same model but different pictures, different colors and different cover lines. I say no way.

Ocean Drive

These two covers use the same picture and same color, yet there are no cover lines on one and plenty on the other. I say maybe, but where is the invitation to open the magazine? It's like going window-shopping and seeing the mannequin with no clothes on.
