As cars get bigger, phones get smaller, and life in general gets more and more complicated, its nice to see publications that merely want to simplify. Real Simple tried this tactic with great success, and now the urbanites in one of Americas most cosmopolitan cities is doing the same. Seattle Magazine recently published the first of its quarterly supplement Northwest Home + Garden whose goal is to do just that: simplify design. While some of the projects in the magazine contradict this philosophy (hanging a 57 x 80 inch piece of sheet rock over a fireplace and decorating it so as to give the illusion of flames jumping off of it), there are ideas that would give style to even the most ornamentally illiterate. The layout itself is simple and easy on the eye, and it wouldnt surprise me at all to see this publication eventually take off on its own. | |||
