In order to gain a hold in a younger demographic National Geographic is changing the name of their National Geographic World to National Geographic Kids. The name change reinforces the brand, thus, the editors have changed little as far their editorial content or their design. And why would they, they have won four awards from the Association of Educational Publishers. It is important for National Geographic to gain a foothold in the eyes and minds of a younger audience as their primary readership continues to get older. This new name should help them to do just that. In order to get children to interact with the magazine they offer an email address so that the children can write letters and give feedback directly to the magazine. The name change should prove to be successful.
