Here is an interesting take on the magazine publishing industry and the music business. This month Mag-A-Music in conjunction with MCA Nashville, Arista, Capitol, Columbia, and Jive Record labels, have released three multi-media magazines to promote these latest artist releases. Three issues and three different music genres are covered in these newest hybrid magazines: Lee Ann Womack, one of country musics leading ladies, Aaron Carter, pop musics latest teen star, and Smash, which features five of the countrys loudest heavy metal bands. These magazines appear to be more press kit than anything else. The thick, glossy, three-page fold out slipcover is filled with photos of the artists, bios of the artists, tour dates and candid Q & A sessions. Also included with each magazine is a CD with music, quick time videos of interviews and musicdefinitely another attempt at merging more than one medium together. | |||
