What's Hot What's New

The good, the bad and the ugly. You'll find them all here. Each week you'll get my take on the intriguing, and sometimes peculiar, titles to recently hit the newsstand.

Exotic Adventure & Travel
Cover Price: $4.99
www.eatmagazineonline.com

They could have easily left off "adventure & travel" from the name and just kept the "exotic." It feels like the "stunning ladies of Venezuela and Brazil" overshadow the travel, fitness and fishing articles scattered among the pages upon pages of wannabe Sports Illustrated swimsuit models. I give it an A for effort, but a C- for execution.

JunkMarket Style
Cover Price: $5.99
www.meredith.com

Remember the old saying, "One man's trash is another man's treasure?" Well for the "junk masters" this magazine is a treasure chest. Putting a hodge-podge of flea market-like items to work for you, the so-called "junk masters" Sue Whitney and Ki Nassauer take you on a journey of collecting junk and putting it to use. If you are a flea market fanatic, then this magazine will make you feel like a kid in a candy store.

Public
Cover Price: $12.25

This is one of the most private magazines I have ever seen in public. The harder I tried to find out what it was about, the more attached I got. There is a sort of love/hate feeling to it as well. With Public, there is pain and pleasure, but, in the end, you leave completely satisfied. With its mix of art, fashion and pure viewing, this small digest-size (5.5 x 6.5) magazine brings along a hefty $12.25 cover price. My experience with Public was worth every penny.
